January 28 is day 28 of the year (the same in a leap year). The Sun is then roughly 9° into Aquarius, 22 days before it moves into Pisces, which places your birthday in the first of the sign’s three decans.
Aquarius, first decan
The first decan gives you Aquarius at its most original, ruled by Uranus in modern astrology and by Saturn in the older tradition. You tend to question convention, imagine better futures, and champion causes larger than yourself. Friendship is sacred to you, and you connect easily with all kinds of people. Independence matters deeply; you dislike being boxed in. Your ideas often arrive ahead of their time. People admire your vision, quirkiness, and steady commitment to fairness.
Born on the 28th: birthday number 28
Twenty-eight is a leader’s number reached the long way round: cooperation and power add to ten, and ten folds back to one. You are independent and ambitious yet good at bringing people together. You have a knack for starting projects and rallying support. Committees tend to make you chair before you volunteer. Confidence and charm help you lead. Your challenge is balancing your need to be in charge with genuine listening, so collaboration feels shared rather than directed.
2 + 8 = 10 → 1: The Leader. A birthday that reduces to 1 drops a self-starting spark into your life path, the number made from your whole birth date — day, month and year — added digit by digit and folded down to one figure. That larger path may back this pioneering streak, or ask it to slow down and listen. Calculate your life path number.
Your birth tarot cards
The Star, the card of Aquarius. The sign’s water bearer and the card’s kneeling figure both pour water freely, here under a bright, starry sky. Together they carry hope, generosity and visions of a better future shared with everyone.
Five of Swords, the card of your decan (Venus in Aquarius in the Golden Dawn system). Choose peace over being right when the cost is too high.
Wheel of Fortune, the card of your day number (2 + 8 = 10). It turns through rises and falls no one fully controls. You may have a knack for spotting turning points and a calm sense that no phase, good or hard, lasts forever. Go with the turn of the wheel and be ready when your moment comes.
The card of your whole birth date, year included, comes from the tarot birth card calculator.

Born in January
Arriving in January means coming into the world under short, crisp days, when snow muffles the streets in much of the country and New Year resolutions still feel fresh. There is something clean-slate about it: deep red garnets glowing like embers, carnations brightening winter tables, and snowdrops pushing through frozen ground to prove that persistence pays off quietly. Birthstone: garnet. Birth flower: carnation and snowdrop.
