The sky today

The Moon is in Capricorn and the phase is First Quarter (50% illuminated). The Moon in Capricorn favors discipline, planning and responsibility.

How our daily horoscope works

Each daily horoscope on Ask the Signs follows the Moon, the fastest-moving body in astrology. It changes sign roughly every two and a half days and passes through every part of your chart once a month. For each sign we work out which of the twelve houses the Moon is visiting today, counting from that sign, and combine texts written for that house with notes on the Moon’s sign and phase. That is why the theme on each tile above is different: today the same Moon touches each sign in a different area of life.

Dates follow Eastern Time, so the new horoscope appears at midnight in New York and a little earlier in the evening on the West Coast. If you want to look further ahead, open tomorrow’s horoscope, your sign’s weekly horoscope for the best days of the week, or the love horoscope for how each sign loves.

Reading it well

A horoscope written for a whole sign can’t know your circumstances, so read it as a mood rather than a plan. Pick one line that resonates and ignore the rest. If something in it sparks a thought about your day, that is the horoscope doing its job.

Frequently asked questions

When does the daily horoscope change?

At midnight Eastern Time. Each sign gets a new text every day, built from where the Moon is in relation to that sign.

Should I read my Sun sign or my rising sign?

Read your Sun sign first. If you know your rising sign, reading it as well can add another angle, because astrologers often use the rising sign to set up the houses.

Is the horoscope a prediction?

No. It’s a tradition and a prompt for reflection, not a forecast. It suggests a mood worth noticing, and the decisions stay with you.
