Cookie Policy: Cookies and Storage

Effective October 12, 2026. Controller: Valerii Makarenko, contact: hello@askthesigns.com. More about personal data in our Privacy Policy.

Browser storage (localStorage)

Ask the Signs doesn’t set its own cookies. Instead, it saves in your browser’s storage only what the tools you use need in order to work. This data is not sent to our server and nobody but you can see it.

This storage is strictly necessary for the features you choose to use, so it doesn’t require separate consent.

Google Analytics cookies

Only if you click “Accept” in the banner do we load Google Analytics 4. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_* (for up to 2 years) to count visits and see which tools are useful. Without your consent, Google’s script is not loaded at all and no data goes to Google.

Why everyone sees the consent banner

Ask the Signs is run from the European Union, so we follow the GDPR’s opt-in rules for every visitor, wherever you live. That also covers the consent rules of Quebec’s Law 25 and the privacy laws of several US states. Until you choose, analytics stays off. Declining doesn’t limit anything on the site: every reading works exactly the same.

What we don’t do

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Several US states give you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Ask the Signs shows no ads today and doesn’t sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. If we ever introduce advertising, a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link will appear in the footer of every page, ads will stay off until you have made a choice, and this section will explain exactly what changes.

How to change your choice or delete your data

Click “Clear my data” in the footer of any page. We will remove all of the data above from this device and ask for your consent to statistics again. You can also delete site data and cookies in your browser settings.
