The four elements
- Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): energy, courage and enthusiasm. Fire signs act first and think later, and they bring warmth to any room.
- Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): practicality, patience and stability. Earth signs build things that last and trust what they can touch.
- Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): ideas, conversation and connection. Air signs live in the world of words and people.
- Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): feelings, intuition and empathy. Water signs sense what others feel before anyone says a word.
Cardinal, fixed and mutable
Each element has three signs with different rhythms. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) open the seasons and like to start things. Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) sit in the middle of each season and keep things going with remarkable persistence. Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) close the seasons and are the most flexible, ready to adapt when plans change.
Your Sun sign is only the beginning
The sign most people know is their Sun sign: where the Sun was on the day they were born. Astrologers also look at the Moon sign (your emotional nature) and the rising sign (how you come across), which is why two people of the same sign can feel so different. Use your Sun sign as a starting point for reflection, not as a box. On each sign’s page you will find its traits, its love style, its strengths at work and with money, and the signs it usually gets along with. Then check your daily horoscope or how your sign matches with someone else’s in zodiac compatibility.
