What this journal is
It is the simplest thing that works: a place to write down the card you drew today and what you thought about it. Not a course, not a subscription, not an app that wants your email before it shows you a card.
A tarot journal is useful for one reason only — memory. Patterns show up across weeks rather than in a single reading: the same card returning, the same question circling, the mood on the days you drew swords. A journal is what turns a stack of separate draws into something you can look back at.
What you can keep in it
A calendar of your daily cards, with the mission and the mood you recorded that day. A collection that fills as you meet new cards, out of all 78. A weekly summary that puts the cards side by side. Your own notes, in your own words.
You can download the whole journal as a file and load it again later, on this device or another one. There is also one button that deletes everything Ask the Signs has stored on your device.
What happens to your data
It stays in your browser. Notes, cards and dates are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our server or to analytics. We cannot read them, and we cannot recover them for you if they are lost.
That has a cost, and it is worth saying plainly: there is no account, therefore no sync. Clearing your browser data deletes the journal. Moving to a new phone means downloading the file and loading it there. Those are the honest terms of a journal that nobody else can read.
Why there is no account
Most journal apps in this category want an account, a subscription, or both. They have to: the journal lives on their server, and servers cost money. This one lives in your browser, so there is nothing to charge for and nothing to sign up to.
The trade is privacy for convenience. You get a journal no company can read, sell or lose in a breach, and you give up automatic syncing between devices. If that trade suits you, the journal is waiting.
Frequently asked questions
Is the tarot journal really free?
Yes. There is no account, no subscription, no trial and no email address to give. Every part of it — the calendar, the notes, the collection, the export — is free.
Can you see the notes I write?
No. Notes, cards and dates are stored in your browser on your device and are never sent to our server or to analytics. That is also why we cannot recover them for you.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
The journal is deleted with it, because that storage is the only place it exists. Download a backup from My Journal now and then; you can load it again on any device.
Can I use it on my phone and my laptop at the same time?
Not automatically — there is no account and no sync, so each browser keeps its own journal. To move it, download the file on one device and import it on the other.
Do I have to draw a card every day?
No. The journal is a record, not an obligation. Missing a day only resets the streak; your cards, notes and collection stay where they were.
