How sign compatibility works

Astrologers judge a match between two Sun signs by three classic factors. The first is the element: fire and air tend to energize each other, earth and water tend to nourish each other, and mixing the two groups asks for more patience. The second is the aspect, the distance between the signs around the zodiac. Signs four apart form a trine, the easiest connection; signs three apart form a square, full of friction and chemistry; opposite signs attract and complete each other. The third is the modality: two cardinal signs both want to lead, two fixed signs both dig in, and two mutable signs both adapt.

The percentages are a playful summary of those factors, never a verdict. A “challenging” pair can be a wonderful couple, and a “perfect” one still needs kindness and honest conversations. Your full birth chart, with its Moon, Venus and rising sign, says much more than the Sun alone.
