October 17 is day 290 of the year (291 in a leap year). The Sun is then roughly 25° into Libra, 6 days before it moves into Scorpio, which places your birthday in the third of the sign’s three decans.
Libra, third decan
Libra’s last decan borrows the lively curiosity of Gemini, a fellow air sign. Here the charm comes with a quick tongue and a love of ideas. You tend to sparkle in conversation, enjoy wordplay, and connect easily with many kinds of people. Learning feels like play to you, and you often know a little about everything. Indecision may linger as you consider every angle, but your charm, humor, and adaptability make you delightful company in nearly any setting.
Born on the 17th: birthday number 17
Born on the 17th, you combine the initiative of one with the inner depth of seven, adding up to eight, the number of achievement. You tend to think strategically, often seeing several moves ahead. Ambition comes paired with integrity; you want success that you can be proud of. You may appear reserved, but your confidence runs deep. The growth edge is softening your self-reliance enough to delegate and to accept help without feeling it as weakness.
1 + 7 = 8: The Achiever. The 8 root adds ambition, stamina and a feel for how power works to your life path. That path itself is calculated from your full birth date, every digit summed and reduced. This executive energy then has to fit with whatever larger lesson the final digit describes. Calculate your life path number.
Your birth tarot cards
Justice, the card of Libra. With its scales and sword, the card mirrors the sign’s own symbol of balance. The Golden Dawn linked them through fairness, clear judgment and a longing for harmony that weighs every side before deciding.
Four of Swords, the card of your decan (Jupiter in Libra in the Golden Dawn system). Rest now so you can act well later.
The Star, the card of your day number. After the storm of the card before it comes this calm, clear night of renewal. Hope, inspiration and a healing presence belong to it, along with the patience to keep believing. Let yourself hope again, then take one gentle step toward what you want.
The card of your whole birth date, year included, comes from the tarot birth card calculator.

October means crisp air, pumpkins on porches, football on weekends and maples blazing orange and crimson.
